if you are building a computer, then this ram cooler will probably not fit in your case. My CPU fan is larger then normal and will not allow for this thing to be mounted over the ram safely.

I'm not sure how much cooler it makes my DDR2 ram, but if nothing else, it looks cool inside my tower and it does help move more air around. The blue LED's are bright and the fans are quiet.
Installing the cooler can make you nervous. The hinges which attach the unit to the DIMM socket levers are kind of tight. IT does take a little bit of muscle to get the hinges over the DIMM levers the first time, but once its attached you wont have to worry about it rattling around or slipping off. And once you do it once, you'll realize that its really not as much pressure as you initially thought you were using. SO if you have to take it off and then re-install it, you wont be as worried about the pressure as you were the first time you installed it.

Some people complained of CPU cooler clearance. Some complained of video card clearance. After seeing the pictures submitted by others and comparing to my build - A basic Asus Socket AM3+/ AMD 970/ Quad CrossFireX/ SATA3&USB3.0/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard (M5A97) with a all-in-one liquid cooler, I figured I had LOTS of room to fit the XTC Cooler. What I was concerned with was the height - Would this cooler fit over the tall heat spreaders on my set of Corsair Vengeance DIMMs? I took the plunge as this was $6 cheaper than the Corsair and Kingston brand coolers.
It really wasn't very hard to mount it. Takes a little bit of muscle to anchor into place, and it seems pretty durable.
Now the reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it's very tall. As I mentioned I'm running this over Corsair Memory Vengeance 16 Quad Channel Kit DDR3 1600 MHz 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 and I swear that the gap between the XTC fans and the DIMMs is about an inch. Not to mention that because of the height, one of my liquid cooling tubes is nudged against the cooler. It doesn't hurt anything, just don't like it as I thought it would clear everything pretty easily. I may move it over one notch in between the DIMM locks.
As far as performance goes, it is pretty quiet. I hooked the three pin connector to my NZXT SENTRY 2 Accessories 5.25-Inch Touch Screen Fan Controller (Black) fan controller, and was able to compare the sound to the other fans, I don't notice any difference. Of course including my push-pull liquid cooler and video card fan, I now have 10 fans in this Nzxt Technologies USB 3.0 Tempest 410 Steel Mid Tower Airflow Case - T410-001 (Black).
Does the XTC cooler cool the Vengeance DIMMs? Probably - But I haven't hooked up the temp sensor to test it out yet. I'll update as soon as I come up with some numbers.
[UPDATE] I finally placed a temp sensor inbetween the 4 Corsair Vengeance DIMMs.
(Note: this is with my other non-cpu case fans spinning at 60%)
*FANS OFF -- 36c (half hour idle/light web browsing)
*FANS ON - SPEED 60% -- 27c (additional half hour idle)
*FANS ON - SPEED 100% -- 26c (additional half hour idle)
In my case, the XTC effectively drops the ram temp by 10 degrees.
Additionally the temp under load (gaming) rose to 28c with all my fans running 100%.
Other thoughts:
*Don't like that it has a white power cable and connector.
*Don't care about the blue LEDs. They are very bright, yes. I don't have a side window other than the bit for a row for tiny exhaust fans. I'm not one for flashy lighting anyway - I bought the XTC Cooler more for the fuction.
*I may down the line cut off a half inch or so. I want these to cool just the memory, not everything surrounding.
*A really good price at $14.99 - tho now they're $11.99! I should have waited a couple days. LOL
